Sexual health, hormones & nervous system physiology

Naturopathy is often described as “natural medicine”, but the way I practice it is far more specific than that.

My work focuses on the physiology behind sexual health, hormonal function and fertility—and the way these systems interact with the nervous system, metabolism and the gut.

Because symptoms like low libido, painful sex, cycle disruption or fertility challenges rarely come from one system alone.

Instead, they emerge from patterns across multiple systems in the body.

My role is to help identify those patterns and work with your physiology to restore function.

WHO I WORK WITH

Most people who come to see me are navigating one or more of the following:

  • Low libido or loss of sexual desire

  • Painful sex or vaginal discomfort

  • PMS, PMDD or cycle irregularities

  • Hormonal imbalances such as PCOS

  • Fertility challenges or pre-conception preparation

  • Postpartum hormonal and nervous system changes

  • Fatigue, mood changes or burnout affecting sexual health

  • Feeling disconnected from their body or sexual wellbeing

Many have already been told their hormones are “normal”, yet the symptoms persist.

This is often where a deeper physiological investigation becomes valuable.

what we look at

Rather than focusing on one symptom in isolation, I look at how multiple systems interact.

These often include:

Hormonal signalling
oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid function

Nervous system regulation
stress physiology, safety signalling, autonomic balance

Metabolic health
blood sugar regulation, energy production, inflammation

Gut & microbiome health
particularly its role in hormone metabolism

Psychosexual wellbeing
how stress, safety, embodiment and emotional health influence desire and sexual function

Together these systems shape how the body experiences hormones, intimacy and vitality.

how i work

My clinical approach combines several tools:

  • Functional pathology testing

  • Evidence-based naturopathic medicine

  • Herbal medicine and targeted supplementation

  • Nutrition and metabolic support

  • Nervous system regulation strategies

  • Somatic practices that support reconnection with the body

This allows us to work on both the physiological and experiential layers of health, because sexual wellbeing lives in both.

functional testing

When appropriate, testing may include:

  • Hormone panels

  • Thyroid testing

  • Nutrient status

  • Inflammatory markers

  • Gut and vaginal microbiome testing

  • Metabolic and blood sugar markers

Testing is used strategically to help clarify patterns, rather than being relied upon in isolation.

Your symptoms, history and lived experience remain central to the process.
